Abstract

• In August 2019, the number of Labor Force in West Sumatra as many as 2.60 million people, an increase of 46.9 thousand people from August 2018. Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) increases by 0.25 points.

• In the last year, TPT fell by 0.22 points. Viewed from educational level, TPT for Middle School The highest vocational level among other levels of education, namely amounting to 8.63 percent.

• The working population is 2.46 million people, an increase of 2.46 million people 50.10 thousand people from August 2018. 3 Sectors that experienced the highest increase in the percentage of the working population, namely Processing Industry Sector (0.74 points), Other Services Sector (0.70 points), and the Education Services Sector (0.57 points). Whereas The 3 sectors that experienced the biggest decline were Sector Construction (0.56 points), Mining and Quarrying Sector (0.48 points), and the Accommodation and Food Provision Sector Drink (0.37 points)

• A total of 1.54 million people (62.65 percent) of the population work in informal activities, the percentage fell by 1.87 points compared to August 2018.

• Of the 2.46 million people who work, 9.07 percent are employed underemployed category and 25.50 percent of workers part time. In the past year, half unemployed fell by 0.55 points and part-time workers rose by 2.21 points.
