• IDI is a composite indicator that shows levels
development of democracy in Indonesia. Level of achievement
measured based on the implementation and development of three
aspects of democracy, namely Civil Liberties, Rights
Politics (Political Rights), and Democratic Institutions (Institution of
Democracy).
• The IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources
namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2) review of documents (Perda,
Gubernatorial Regulations, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) interviews
deep.
• The 2018 West Sumatra Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is
amounting to 67.06 on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure decreased by 2.44 points
compared to the 2017 West Sumatra IDI of 69.50.
An index of 67.06 includes West Sumatra as
regions with a level of democracy in the "medium" category.
The level of democracy is grouped into three categories, namely
“good” (index > 80), “medium” (index 60 – 80), and “bad”
(index < 60).
• Decreasing the number that constitutes the composite index
influenced by changes in the two aspects of democracy being measured
namely Civil Liberties (Civil Liberty) fell 6.34 points from 61.66
in 2017 to 55.32 in 2018 and Institutions
Democracy (Institution of Democracy) fell 4.20 points from 92.72
in 2017 to 88.52 in 2018. Meanwhile, Political Rights
(Political Rights) rose 1.76 points from 2017 of 61.08
to 62.84 in 2018.
