Abstract

• The economy of West Sumatra in 2018 is measured based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) above the current price base reaches IDR 230.53 trillion and GRDP per capita reached IDR 42.57 million or US$ 2901.45.

• West Sumatra's economy in 2018 grew 5.14 percent, Slowing compared to 2017 of 5.29 percent. From the side production, performance of agricultural business fields which are largest contributor to the economy of West Sumatra experienced growth from 3.40 percent in 2017 to 3.46 percent in 2018. In terms of expenditure, it increased caused by improved performance of Consumption Expenditures Government from -0.50 percent in 2017 to 4.63 Perjoint in 2018.

• West Sumatra economy in quarter IV-2018 when compared quarter IV-2017 (y-on-y) grew positively, namely 5.50 percent when compared to the same period the previous year amounting to 5.41 percent.

• West Sumatra's economy in the fourth quarter of 2018 experienced growth of 0.96 percent experienced a slowdown compared to quarter III-2018 (q-to-q). From the production side, the construction business field is experiencing growth the highest among other business fields, namely 7.40 percent. From the expenditure side, this was caused by a decrease in almost all expenditure components, except Expenditures Government consumption increased by 36.34 percent.
