Abstract

• West Sumatra's economy is measured based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on the basis of the current price for the first quarter of 2019 reached IDR 58.76 trillion and on a constant price basis in 2010 it reached IDR 41.41 trillion.

• West Sumatra's economy in the first quarter of 2019 grew 4.78 percent (y-on-y) grew compared to the same period in the previous year was 4.71 percent. From the production side, growth is driven by almost all business fields except Business Fields, Processing Industry and Financial Services and Insurance, with the highest growth achieved in the Field Information and Communication Business which grew 9.59 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, growth was the highest achieved by the Non-Profit Institution Consumption Component grew 14.00 percent.

• The economy of West Sumatra in the first quarter of 2019 experienced contraction of 1.55 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, This contraction was caused by the Mining Business Field and Excavation of 4.90 percent. Meanwhile from the side Expenditures are driven by declining Component performance Very significant Government Consumption Expenditures amounting to -48.37 percent.
