Abstract

• Deflation in Padang City occurred due to a decrease in the index in 3 (three) expenditure groups. The biggest decline occurred in foodstuffs group by 1.35 percent, followed by a decline the index in the clothing group was 0.21 percent. Deflation in Bukittinggi City due to a decrease in index at 2 (two) expenditure group. The biggest decline occurred in the group foodstuffs amounted to 0.60 percent and was followed by the clothing group by 0.14 percent.

• Inflation rate for the calendar year to November 2019 City Padang and Bukittinggi City were 1.65 percent respectively and 1.32 percent. Padang City year-on-year inflation rate (November 2019 against November 2018) amounted to 1.81 percent and Bukittinggi City amounting to 1.74 percent.

• Of the 23 (twenty three) CPI cities in Sumatra, 5 (five) cities experienced inflation and 18 (eighteen) cities experienced deflation. Highest inflation occurred in Metro City at 0.36 percent and the lowest occurred in Lhokseumawe City was 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, deflation was the highest occurred in Tanjung Pandan City at 1.06 percent and the lowest in Batam City was 0.01 percent. Padang City and Bukittinggi City ranked 7th (seventh) and 16th (sixteenth) of all CPI cities experiencing deflation in Sumatra. Nationally City Padang and Bukittinggi City are in 12th (twelfth) place 21 (twenty-one) of all CPI cities experiencing deflation.
