Abstract

• Deflation in Padang City occurred due to a decrease in the index in 3 (three) expenditure groups. The biggest decline occurred in foodstuffs group by 1.12 percent, followed by a decline index in the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.40 percent. Inflation in Bukittinggi City is caused by increase in index in 5 (five) expenditure groups. Ascension The largest occurred in the education, recreation and sports groups amounted to 0.19 percent and was followed by the health expenditure group by 0.03 percent.

• Inflation rate for the calendar year to October 2019 in Padang City and Bukittinggi City at 1.99 percent and 1.42 respectively percent. Padang City's year-on-year inflation rate (October 2019 against October 2018) was 2.35 percent and Bukittinggi City was 2.68 percent.

• Of the 23 (twenty three) IHK cities in Sumatra, 13 (thirteen) cities experienced deflation and 10 (ten) cities experienced inflation. Deflation The highest occurred in Tembilahan City at 0.59 percent and the lowest occurred in Pangkal Pinang City at 0.02 percent. Meanwhile inflation The highest occurred in Lhokseumawe at 0.53 percent and the lowest in Pematang Siantar it was 0.01 percent. Padang City occupied 5th (fifth) of all CPI cities experiencing deflation in Sumatra and Bukittinggi City are in 9th place (ninth) of all cities experiencing inflation in Sumatra. Nationally Padang City ranks 10th (tenth) of all CPI cities which experienced deflation and Bukittinggi City ranked 1st 39 (thirty nine) of all cities experienced inflation
