Abstract

• Inflation in Padang City occurred due to an increase in the index most expenditure groups. The biggest increase occurred in the food expenditure group was 2.71 percent, followed by an increase in the index in the education, recreation, and groups sports by 0.83 percent. Inflation in Bukittinggi City was caused there was an increase in the index for most expenditure groups. The largest increase occurred in the materials expenditure group food was 1.67 percent and followed by the expenditure group clothing by 0.74 percent.

• Inflation rate for the calendar year to July 2019 in Padang City and Bukittinggi City at 3.42 percent and 2.28 respectively percent. Padang City's year-on-year inflation rate (July 2019 against July 2018) was 3.82 percent, and Bukittinggi City was 4.48 percent.

• Of the 23 (twenty three) IHK cities in Sumatra, 21 (twenty one) cities experienced inflation and 2 (two) cities experienced deflation. Inflation The highest occurred in Sibolga City at 1.88 percent and the lowest in Padangsidimpuan City it was 0.06 percent. From 2 (two) cities which experienced deflation, the highest occurred in Pangkal Pinang City amounted to 0.41 percent and the lowest occurred in Banda Aceh City by 0.24 percent. Padang City ranks 5th (fifth) and Bukittinggi City ranks 11th (eleventh) of all CPI cities experiencing inflation in Sumatra. Nationally Padang City ranks 7th (seventh) and Bukittinggi City ranks 20th (twenty) out of 55 (fifty five) cities experiencing inflation.
