Abstract

• Inflation in Padang City occurred due to an increase in the index most expenditure groups. The biggest increase occurred in the food expenditure group was 3.06 percent, followed by an increase in the index in the transport expenditure group, communications, and financial services amounting to r0.50 percent. Inflation in Cities Bukittinggi was largely due to an increase in the index expenditure group. The largest increase occurred in the group food expenditure was 2.24 percent in the following group transportation, communications and financial services expenses amounted to 0.50 percent.

• Inflation rate for the calendar year to May 2019 in Padang City And Bukittinggi City was 1.43 percent and 0.52 respectively percent. Padang City's year-on-year inflation rate (May 2019 against May 2018) was 2.86 percent, and Bukittinggi City was 2.98 percent.

• Of the 23 (twenty three) CPI cities in Sumatra, all experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City at 1.78 percent and the lowest in Tanjung Pandan City at 0.21 percent. Padang City is ranked 13th (thirteenth) and Kota Bukittinggi ranks 15th (fifteenth) of all CPI cities which experienced inflation in Sumatra. Nationally, Padang City ranks 31st (thirty first) and Bukittinggi City ranks 34th (thirty fourth) out of 81 (eighty one) a city experiencing inflation.
