Abstract

• In general, the Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) in West Sumatra in the first quarter of 2019 there was a decline in comparison quarter IV-2018. ITK in the first quarter of 2019 was 102.96 while in the fourth quarter of 2018 it was 104.75.

• The decrease in the ITK value is caused by a decrease in the variable index forming ITK, namely household income, decreased from 108.38 to 100.29 while the effect of inflation on the total Household expenditure increased from 100.18 in the quarter IV 2018 to 109.73 in the first quarter of 2019 and the volume/ Consumption frequency rose from 101.88 to 100.71 in the quarter I 2019.

• The ITK value in West Sumatra in the second quarter - 2019 is estimated A value of 115.35 means that the economy will be more optimistic in the quarter II 2019.

• Improvement in consumer economic conditions in the second quarter - 2019 This is expected to occur due to an increase in the income variable future households (index=126.61), resulting in a decline on plans to purchase durable goods (index=95.6) can covered.

• ITK in the first quarter of 2019 for West Sumatra Province reached 102.96 is below the national index (ITK=104.35) and is at fourth out of ten provinces in the Sumatra Island region.

• ITK for quarter II - 2019 for West Sumatra Province is estimated increased to 115.35, below the index forecast nationally (ITK=120.90) and is in fourth place ten provinces on the island of Sumatra.
