Abstract

• Inflation in Padang City occurred due to an increase in the index most expenditure groups. The biggest increase occurred in the food expenditure group was 1.61 percent, followed by an increase in the index in the transport expenditure group, communications, and financial services by 0.35 percent. Inflation in the city Bukittinggi was due to a large increase in the index expenditure group. The largest increase occurred in the group food expenditure was 1.50 percent in the following groups transport, communications and financial services expenditure was 0.74 percent.

• Inflation rate for the calendar year to April 2019 in Padang City And Bukittinggi City was 0.57 percent and -0.26 respectively percent. Padang city year-on-year inflation rate (April 2019 against April 2018) was 2.45 percent, and the city of Bukittinggi was 1.78 percent.

• Of the 23 (twenty three) CPI cities in Sumatra, all experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Medan City at 1.30 percent and the lowest was in Tanjung Pinang City at 0.16 percent. City Padang ranks 16th (sixteenth) and Bukittinggi City ranks 13th (thirteenth) of all CPI cities experiencing inflation in Sumatra. Nationally, Padang City ranks 37th (thirty-seventh) and Bukittinggi City ranks 22nd (twenty-two) out of 77 (seventy-seventh) a city experiencing inflation.
